Key takeaways :

  1. NFTP has about 40 countries coverage for vendor creation. NFTP was supposed to be master of Vendor, hence contains features of both SMDS and L&S. SMDS-Ocean are NFTP 2.0 releases, L&S are NFTP 3.0 releases
  2. NFTP and SMDS both can create vendor records independently. These systems don't consume data from each other currently. We need to check the downstream application list of NFTP and their OAS/AVRO schema as well. In case SMDS takes over Vendor single source of truth, initially NFTP has to consume EMP feeds from SMDS for vendor & support its existing downstream. Later the NFTP downstream apps have to move to SMDS Vendor EMP feeds incrementally.
  3. NFTP has duplicate search in place, and workflow approvals at multiple stages for the same. We need the details of Match rules.
  4. NFTP has the country based validation rules much like SMDS. We need the list/table extract of the same.
  5. City field is free text in NFTP, not integrated with SMDS Geo. It's only approvers that have control over this.
  6. Data migration from NFTP to SMDS Vendor will be a challenge due to mismatch of validation rules & data. For example, City.
  7. There is no encryption for sensitive information on NFTP. For example, bank details etc.
  8. There's no Tax validation using external service like VIES.
  9. No access restriction to view Bank Details of Vendor in NFTP
  10. Bulk upload is available in NFTP. We need to get the template. Bulk upload requests go through approval.
  11. Vendor management team can select approver of workflow – this was developed as part of a special requirement
