🤝 Overview of the Product and the Team
❓ What is SMDS?​
The Single Master Data Solution (SMDS) is a comprehensive offering that delivers crucial master data domains for various areas of Maersk's operations. It guarantees accurate and standardized data management across different business functions and is integrated into a larger platform called Global Data Analytics (GDA).
SMDS covers two broad areas:
- Customer Master Data (CMD):
- Customer: Information about the customers that Maersk does business with.
- Contact: Information on key contacts, including individuals and departments.
- Facility: Ownership information for specific physical locations.
- Operations Master Data Management (Ops MDM):
- Operational Facilities: Information on facilities such as terminals, berths, warehouses, and other transfer points.
- Geography: Details on geographical entities where Maersk operates, such as country, city, site, and region.
- Commodity: Data related to classifications of goods.
- Vessel: Information about Maersk’s vessels.
- Vendor: Data about business relationships with vendors.
- Deadlines (Moving out of SMDS): Shipping and documentation tasks required before ships arrive or depart.
The SMDS centralizes and standardizes critical data for smoother operations and better decision-making across Maersk’s global supply chain.
