Facility

Facility: A facility refers to a physical location that supports the movement, storage, and management of goods and materials within a supply chain.

Examples of Facility Types:

  • Warehouse Facility
  • Cross-Docking Facility
  • Barge Facility
  • Transportation Hub Facility

Facility Type: Facility Type refers to the category or classification of a facility based on its function within the supply chain.

Examples:

  • Storage Facilities: Warehouses, Cold Storage Facilities
  • Transportation Facilities: Airports, Seaports, Rail Yards

Service: A service is an activity or function performed at a facility to support the supply chain process. These services are directly related to the operation of the facility.

Examples:

  • Storage Service
  • Picking and Packing
  • Freight Consolidation

Service Group: A Service Group is a collection of similar or related services provided at a facility.

Examples:

  • Transportation Service
  • Value-Added Services
  • Custom Services

Types of Facilities in Operations

Operation Facility A facility where core activities like production, manufacturing, or distribution take place. It focuses on the day-to-day operations of a business.

LNS Facility A facility involved in land transportation logistics, such as truck terminals, distribution centers, or warehouses that support the movement of goods via trucks, trains, or other land vehicles.

Commercial Facility A space used for business activities such as sales, marketing, or customer service. It includes offices or retail spaces (mainly Maersk offices).

Facility Ingest

Ingest refers to taking information for processing, storage, or further use. A Facility Ingest process is used for ingesting facility records.

Functionalities

  • Create: New facility records can be created.
  • Update: Existing facility records can be updated.

Note:-

  • In Ops Facility Ingest, facility creation and bulk uploading are done through the Portal.
  • Search can be performed either via the Portal or API calls.
