Why is BP Model important ?
In Maersk business, Business partner (it could be Vendor or Customer or Both) is very important in SAP ECC and SAP TMS systems. In SAP ECC invoices will be generated against the BP. In SAP TMS the BP is used to execute the orders placed by BP. Without BP model, we might need to store the Customer data and Vendor data separately which causes redundant data. Storing redundant data is not in line with the concept of effective Master Data Management. This redundancy can be reduced/eliminated by using Business Partner based MDM.
In financial systems it becomes convenient to manage the payables and receivables & their cycles by identifying the business partners that are not just suppliers but also customers.
In case of Maersk BP model implementation will help:
- Consolidated data view
- Central blocking
- Avoid redundant payment issues
- Clear reporting
